The edge effect around microplates is caused by inadequate humidity within incubators. Water from the plate slowly evaporates and the wells closest to the lip of the plates, i.e., those on the edges and corners, have the most water loss. Plates within an incubator can also experience different temperatures depending upon their placement. This lack of temperature uniformity can lead to significant variations in cell based assays.
The Microplate Stability Chamber is designed to minimize the edge effect in microwell plates while providing an environment with temperature uniformity. This results in less variable assays and healthier cells. The Microplate Stability Chamber is provided with an Aluminum Microplate Tray that rests inside the chamber. The Chamber contains a water reservoir and fan.
